Iceland’s famous Golden Circle route takes in some of the country’s most spectacular sights and is recommended for all first-time visitors.  Every day of the year visitors gather in hotel lobbies to wait for their pick up to see some of the most spectacular and accessible sights in Iceland.  The classic tour introduces the location of the birth of Iceland, along the Mid Atlantic ridge, and includes the Gulfoss waterfall and geothermal area which boats the great geyser, Strokkur.  Thingvellir National Park is recognised by UNESCO as the site of the world’s first parliament and significant geologically as a place where the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates meet and are slowly drifting apart; the Geysir geothermal park – the great hot spring from which all others take their name is now dormant but its neighbour, Strokkur, erupts every few minutes, shooting a column of boiling water 20 or 30 m into the air, and Gullfoss (“Golden Falls”) – one of the most beautiful of Iceland’s numerous waterfalls and perhaps its most famous natural wonder.

For a day’s sightseeing with a guide to find out about Iceland’s history and culture and to see and photograph these great features, the classic tour is the solution. There’s not too much walking and the group will be about 20, so expect a mini coach or minibus and a friendly personal service.

If you’d like your Golden Circle to be longer, shorter, more active or as a private tour, please contact us.
