Touring the East of Iceland is a great opportunity for slow travel and with some 250km of beautiful coastline there’s masses to discover by car and on foot. To the South of Egilsstadir lies Lagafljot, a long narrow lake complete with its own ‘monster’ Wyrm and navigable by road all the way around. The lake stretches into the Highlands where the possibilities for contrasting experiences await on foot, horseback or by guided superjeep.

The perfect way  to find out more about East Iceland and to enjoy a truly Icelandic eating experience is to be invited to the home of local Icelanders. This all year round treat is a great addition to any holiday and is hosted by a family living in the Eastfjords area. Designed for self drive travellers and especially in remote villages where they are few places to eat in the evening, what could be better than to end the day with a welcoming family who will share their evening meal with you as guests.  The meal is 2 courses, and will be cooked using local produce. Find out about what there is to see locally and learn about your host’s family and interests over supper and make new friends in Iceland.

Supper is for a minimum of  2 people, prices are discounted for families with children. Available on request, we will arrange your supper to fit in with the rest of your itinerary.
