Crime Fiction Festival in Reykjavik
The city of Reykjavik is hosting the Iceland Noir festival of crime fiction in November 2020. It’s a perfect opportunity for any lovers of this genre to get fully immersed in readings, interviews and discussions with Icelandic and other authors in the true winter chill of the world’s most northerly capital.
Details are still to be finalised so register for our Noir festival package, saving you time and avoiding the chance of missing out on tickets. Even in a short trip to Iceland, there’s time to see beyond the city including some of the ‘scenes of crime’ with which readers will be familiar.
From 5 days/4 nights
Departures from November 15 2020
Festival dates November 18-21 2020
The organisers are hoping that this will go ahead, please contact us to register your interest or to find out more and we’ll keep you up to date.
Crime fiction on location
Iceland has become a very popular source of crime fiction, made even more so by an ever-growing demand for translations of titles by celebrated authors such as Arnaldur Indriðason, Yrsa Sigurdadóttir and Ragnar Jónasson. Often using the lesser known areas of North, East and West Iceland, or the isolation of small, uninhabited islands as a location just the setting of these novels is enough to put most readers outside their own comfort zone. By adding in to this the harshness of the Icelandic landscape and the weather, a feeling of vulnerability soon creeps whether or not the main event has taken place.
Immerse yourself
Iceland Noir offers a perfect opportunity to explore in greater depth the works of Icelandic authors and others including Ann Cleeves and Ian Rankin over the course of 4 days of evening and daytime events. For some total immersion may be what you are after, but for others there may be the desire to check out some of that remoteness or see some of the locations you’ve read about. Alternatively, why not consider some of the other Icelandic must-sees such as the Northern Lights, some great food or time to ‘chill’ in some soothing geothermal hot water at the Blue Lagoon or elsewhere?
Perfect planning
Our flexible package offers registration, accommodation, additional sightseeing before, during or after the festival, plus flights, transfers and advice and help to plan your trip. It’s not designed as an organised tour so there’s freedom to travel on your own or with friends, with the arrangements all made so that you don’t have to. We’ll be there too as it’s an event we don’t want to miss and so there’ll be an optional get together to join in with if you wish. Please note that all festival details are subject to confirmation.
