You may wonder what Julia and Yvonne are doing all day in their office in the clubhouse, and we’re pleased to announce that one of our projects is this special first ever summer golf and sightseeing holiday to Iceland for TDEGC members, friends and family scheduled for June 2020. Not a TDEGC member? If you’d like to know more about our golfing holidays in Iceland, please contact us
We’ve been listening to your ideas and had a few chats at the bar, so we know that a summer trip with interesting golf and some great sightseeing is what you’d like. Since Iceland isn’t a place you’d go to just for golf, we’ve worked on this being a holiday for golfers and partners and friends so the plans are that when there’s an option to play golf, there’s also an option to see the local area and visit some other attractions.
Iceland’s a surprisingly easy place to visit, but to make sure that you all have a great time without any holiday hassle, either Julia or Yvonne will be with your group as tour manager, travelling with you in Iceland to make sure that you don’t have to do anything other than enjoy the trip. We’ll be staying in Reykjavik, where there’s plenty to see and do, a wide range of places to eat together with evening boat trips, theatre and film shows. We’ve lined up a guided day tour for everyone to see the as it’s a must-see in Iceland and depending on individual interests we will help you to decide on other places to visit or things to do. The Blue or other lagoons, whales, puffins, fishing, knitting or cooking, the list is endless, so we are here to help.
Outline of the holiday:
Day 1: Fly from Heathrow or Gatwick on a lunchtime flight which takes just under 3 hours, arriving mid afternoon. Private transfer to Reykjavik and to the hotel to check in and settle in. Dinner will be a short walk from the hotel, and after that, free time to walk down to the Harbour or old town as it’s light almost all night at this time of the year.
Day 2: After breakfast, be ready for a pick up for a guided day tour of the to see some of the most iconic highlights of South Iceland. Return in the late afternoon, with the rest of the day free. Ask us about the range of evening trips and entertainments available, or for ideas for a route for an evening stroll.
Day 3: After breakfast today, there’s a pick up by private coach to drive out along the coast to the Reykjanes peninsula. Golfers will be dropped off along the way and the rest of the group will spend the day sightseeing in this dramatic and interesting area of South Iceland. The bus returns to Reykjavik in the afternoon, with the rest of the day free.
Day 4: Today is a free day for everyone, so a chance to explore the city more fully or to take a trip to another area of Iceland. Plenty of opportunity to find out from us about the range of options, which is enormous so we’ll be pleased to help! At this time of year there are puffin boat trips, walking and bike tours and short boat trips across to a very pretty island in Reykjavik Bay where arctic terns nest and raise their chicks.
Day 5: This morning, there’s a pick up after breakfast for another golf day in a small geothermal village about an hour from Reykjavik. For non-golfers there’s plenty of choice for things to see and do, from seeing the local quake exhibition to taking a hot river swim or maybe a hot tub! As a farewell to Iceland, dinner is at an excellent bistro in the village and then the bus will return to Reykjavik.
Day 6: After breakfast it will be time to return to the airport for check in and a lunch time flight back to Heathrow or Gatwick.
