This small group tour combines sightseeing around the Golden Circle route with stops at family-run farms for some traditional Icelandic tastes and a spa visit, and concludes with a Northern Lights hunt.  You will be picked up from your accommodation in Reykjavík at around 11:30 and travel through Thingvellir National Park to Friðheimar, where tomatoes are grown, year-round, in geothermally-heated greenhouses.  Lunch here comprises home-made tomato soup and freshly-baked bread.  Then it’s on to Gullfoss and Geysir, followed by a visit to Efstidalur farm to sample skyr (a traditional Icelandic dairy product a bit like fromage frais) and ice cream produced from the farm’s own cows.  You will then head to the beautiful Lake Laugarvatn to relax in the natural thermal baths, sauna and hot pools at Fontana Spa, where steam rises directly from the ground through grids in the cabin floors. Supper (the day’s special followed by chocolate mousse), at a lakeside restaurant known for its wild food, is included.   Finally, it’s time to start searching for the Northern Lights on your way back to Reykjavík.
