For one of the best introductions to the history and development of Icelandic cheese and dairy production in Iceland, this informative and informal lecture and lunch is one not to miss. Icelanders have the third largest consumption of cheese per head of population in the world, and together with the tasting there is also the opportunity to browse and buy in the wonderfully stocked delicatessen shop located on site.
Hosted by Eirný Sigurðardóttir, an inspiration and leading player in the country’s food scene, the workshop includes lunch, consisting of Icelandic cheeses and cured meats, salads, sourdough bread and artisanal crispbreads with a skyr based dessert.
This is an excellent way to begin a food-related holiday to Iceland, and is usually run over lunchtime, but if flexible and other times for groups or for a private session can be arranged.
