DAY 4: Drive through the tunnel beneath Hvalfjörður to the Snæfellsnes peninsula, where your first walk will be to the Eldborg crater (5km), followed by the area around the Ytri-Rauðamelskúla volcano, the carbonated springs of Rauðamelsölkeldur (5km) and the wonderful rocky coast at Arnarstapi (4km). From there, you will drive through the extensive lava fields at the western tip of the peninsula. If there’s time, you will stop at the white sand beach at Skarðsvík (1km) and view the cliffs where once fishing boats were suspended to keep them clear of the storm waves. Tonight’s accommodation is in the charming fishing town of Ólafsvík.

DAY 6: A leisurely start today will enable you to explore Stykkishólmur, before heading back to. You will take several short walks, including one to the low peak, Helgafell, and the churchyard below (1km) and another below the mountain Drápuhlíðarfjall, where there was once a colossal landslide (4km).
