‘Really enjoyable, a great experience!’

Following the fun we all had in 2017, we are repeating this short action-packed winter holiday in November 2018 and offer an invitation to any ladies who’d like to join us.  You are welcome to come alone or with a friend or friends to enjoy an amazing snapshot of beautiful South Iceland.  With a professional guide, share new experiences and make new connections both within the group and with Icelandic ladies that we’ll meet. The group (maximum 20) will travel around South Iceland to experience the wonders of the Golden Circle, South Coast, hot tubs, geothermal bathing and hopefully the Northern Lights! There are additional opportunities for glacier hiking, more Northern Lights hunting and a visit to the Blue Lagoon too.  A highlight of the weekend will be a meet up with a group of similarly inspired Icelandic women, to make new friends and enjoy some great Icelandic food and hospitality. New for 2018 will be a larger bus, so more window seats and space for all the coats, gloves and hats!

‘Fun packed and informative.’

Some of the ladies who joined us in 2017 belong to one or more business or social networking groups, others don’t belong to any particular group or network and were friends or work colleagues. Everyone was interested in enjoying a relaxed and sociable short adventure with all of the arrangements taken care of.  We definitely made the most of our 3 days! ‘Breath taking – an incredible experience that I couldn’t have accessed on my own.’

Day 1:  Sunday Nov 11 Early morning departure from London Gatwick, arrive mid morning at Keflavik International Airport. We meet our driver and guide who will welcome us to Iceland and tell us all about the country, its history, geography and culture and what it’s like to be an Icelander. Our journey today takes us around the famous ‘Golden Circle’. We’ll see the Thingvellir National Park, the Mid Atlantic ridge, where the American and Eurasian tectonic plates are splitting apart leaving a rift and the clear blue water of the lake that lies within it. After a short walk in the rift area and some photographs, we travel on to the Gulfoss  ‘golden’ waterfall, and then, at the Geysir geothermal area, watch the magnificent steam eruption of the geyser, Strokkur.  To wind down, we’ll stop at a geothermal lagoon and do exactly what Icelanders do in this situation: relax and chat! It’s not very far from the lagoon to the cosy country hotel where we will stay and have dinner, enjoy hot tubs if you wish,  and with luck, catch the Northern Lights if they are there.

‘Wonderful, amazing, colourful Iceland.’

Day 2: Monday Nov 12 Today we see more of Iceland’s amazing landscape as we drive further along the South Coast of Iceland, home of the Myrdalsjökull glacier and famous Eyjafjallajökull volcano. There’s an option to take a guided hike on the Solheimajökull glacier and discover the freedom you feel wearing crampons on glacial ice! If this doesn’t appeal, you can just take a look at the glacier and then you’ll drive on down to the black volcanic beaches and dramatic coastline at Vik where there are towering basalt cliffs and wild landscapes. A photographer’s dream location!  We return to Reykjavik in the late afternoon to check in to our hotel and then meet for dinner and plenty of conversation with a group of Icelandic ladies. As Reykjavik is a great party city, there will be time afterwards to indulge if you wish. Alternatively we can book you a Northern Lights hunt, or you can just sink into bed after a second busy day.

‘An amazing experience made easy!’

Day 3: Tuesday Nov 13 There will be time for exploring Reykjavik today, so walking, shopping, coffee and cakes, it’s up to everyone to choose what to do.  There is no particular rush, so a leisurely start is a definite option after a busy two days.  If a Blue Lagoon experience is on your list, then we’ll arrange that, or if you need to discover how lovely it is to ride an Icelandic horse we can organise that too.  There’s also the chance to join a session at the cookery school, ride across the lava on a quad bike and more… and at the end of the afternoon we’ll head to the airport and check in for the flight back to London.

More about Inspired Women

‘Inspired Women is a great evening of fun and laughter alongside great opportunities for social and business networking with women from Richmond, Twickenham, Teddington, Hampton, Sunbury, Kingston Upon Thames, Middlesex, Surrey and Greater London.  An evening to be inspired by others, sharing ideas, make new friendships, information and learning. It came about when myself and some colleagues realised that we were no longer the ‘night clubbing’ type and actually what we really classed as a good night out was good food, great atmosphere and interesting company.’ Susan Green, founder of Inspired Women
