Spring Holiday Collection  – a unique opportunity to fly direct to beautiful North Iceland for Wilderness and Wellness, Photography, Self-drives or Escorted Tours.

The end of Iceland’s winter is celebrated around April 20 each year and from then on, the landscape begins to wake up and prepare for summer. The days begin to lengthen,  it is light until about 8:30pm, and melting snow and  ice adds extra power to the  thundering waterfalls.  This is a time of great optimism, when you might still get a sight of the Northern Lights, and the snowy mountain tops contrast with the greens and browns of the emerging landscape below. Birds are arriving, ready to begin nesting and egg laying and the sheep are almost ready to start producing their lambs.

North Iceland is home to a stunning range of remote mountain and coastal areas, fertile farm land, lava fields, lakes, fjords, waterfalls and volcanoes. The main settlement of Akureyri is charming and compact, with good shops, hotels and places to eat. All other villages and towns are small and scattered, mostly coastal and always welcoming. The area is full of interest and contrast, with plenty to see and offers activities ranging from wellness and relaxation in spas, pools and lagoons, to winter sports, sailing, hiking and horse-riding.  In April and May, visitors can expect to share the remoteness of the landscape with almost nobody else, and even when visiting the most well known landmarks, there are unlikely to be many other people around. It’s a great time to be in North Iceland!
